2013 아름지기 기획전 《포(袍), 선비 정신을 입다》는 조선시대 선비의 차림새를 대표하는 겉옷 ‘포’를 중심으로, 복식에 깃든 정신성과 미감을 조명하는 전시다. 발목까지 내려오는 긴 겉옷인 포는 예를 중시했던 선비들의 의관(衣冠)을 상징하는 복식으로, 시대와 기능에 따라 다양한 형태로 발전해 왔다. 이번 전시는 포의 간결한 조형미와 기품 있는 남성 복식 문화를 통해 선비 정신의 미학적 의미를 되짚는다.온지음 옷공방은 전시의 출발점이 된 작업으로, 유물의 치수와 제작 기법, 소재에 대한 연구를 바탕으로 전통 포를 재현하여 고유의 멋과 구조적 특징을 구현하였다. 또한 현대 디자이너들과의 협업을 통해 전통 포의 형태적 요소와 정신적 가치를 현대 복식으로 재해석한 작품을 함께 선보였다. 이는 선비 복식의 품격을 유지하면서도 오늘의 생활 환경 속에서 실질적으로 착용 가능한 모델을 제안하려는 시도다.

Arumjigi’s 2013 exhibition "Po, the Seonbi Spirit in Clothing" explores the ideals and aesthetics embodied in dress through the po, the outer robe that exemplified the attire of the seonbi, the scholar class of the Joseon dynasty. An ankle-length robe, the po symbolized the formal dress of these scholars, who placed great importance on propriety, and evolved into various forms according to period and function. Through the po’s restrained beauty of form and the refined culture of men’s dress, the exhibition reconsiders the aesthetic significance of the seonbi spirit.Onjium Clothing Studio created the works that formed the starting point for the exhibition, reproducing traditional po through research into the dimensions, construction techniques, and materials of surviving garments. These reproductions capture the robes’ distinctive elegance and structural characteristics. The studio also collaborated with contemporary designers to present works that reinterpret the formal elements and ideals of traditional po in contemporary dress. These works propose garments suited to everyday wear today while preserving the dignity and refinement of seonbi attire.
