The Art of Korean Cooking offers an in-depth introduction to Korean food culture through more than 80 recipes drawn from the research and practice of Onjium’s Food Studio. Alongside cultural essays, it traces the ingredients and flavors passed down through the Goryeo and Joseon periods, with a particular focus on contemporary interpretations of Joseon royal court cuisine. Organized around the four seasons, the recipes range from familiar dishes such as spring greens bibimbap and seafood hot pot to azalea rice cakes, chestnut porridge, oyster salad, and dishes featuring burdock root and glass noodles. Photographs of the finished dishes and images of nature through the seasons sit alongside sections on traditional alcoholic beverages, bugak (crispy coated vegetables and seaweed), jangajji (pickled vegetables), and tea, bringing together the depth and beauty of Korean food culture in a single volume.
