온지음 팝업 〈하동을 담은 차회 with 도재명차〉 Onjium Pop-up: A Taste of Hadong — A Tea Gathering with Dojae Tea

온지음은 우리 차문화의 다양한 형상을 기록하고 소개해 온 연구의 연장선에서, 지역 차인과의 협업을 통해 하동 차를 중심으로 한 차회를 마련하였다.경상남도 하동 화개면에서 오랜 시간 차를 만들어 온 도재명차와 함께, 지역의 자연 환경과 전통 덖음 방식으로 완성된 수제차의 특징을 살피고 차의 맛과 향에 대한 이해를 나누고자 하였다. 하동 녹차가 지닌 떫은맛과 감칠맛, 쓴맛의 층위를 중심으로 차의 감각을 탐구하고, 맛공방이 준비한 다식과의 페어링을 통해 차와 음식이 어우러지는 구성을 더했다.이번 차회는 생산자와 연구자, 그리고 참여자가 함께 차를 매개로 만나는 자리로, 지역에서 이어져 온 차의 방식과 오늘의 경험이 연결되는 과정을 담아냈다. 지역의 차와 이를 둘러싼 문화가 동시대의 감각 속에서 다시 공유될 수 있음을 확인하는 계기가 되었다.

As an extension of its research documenting and introducing the many forms of Korean tea culture, Onjium collaborated with a local tea producer to host a gathering centered on tea from Hadong(하동).Together with Dojae Tea, a producer with a long history of making tea in Hwagae-myeon(화개면), Hadong, South Gyeongsang Province(경상남도), Onjium explored the qualities of handmade teas shaped by the local natural environment and traditional pan-roasting methods. The gathering invited participants to deepen their understanding of tea’s flavors and aromas, exploring the layers of astringency, umami and bitterness in Hadong green tea. Pairings with traditional tea sweets prepared by Food Studio brought tea and food together in a carefully considered sequence.Bringing producers, researchers and participants together over tea, the gathering connected longstanding local tea practices with present-day experience. It offered an opportunity to share the region’s tea and its surrounding culture through a contemporary appreciation of taste and aroma.
