Plant Pattern

This fabric was reproduced in reference to the fabric of Joseon danggui (court dress) in the collection of Sookmyung Women's University. The design based on the Four Noble Plants (plum blossom, chrysanthemum, orchid and bamboo) representing the literati was widely used during the Joseon period. To these four traditional motifs was added the peony, which symbolizes wealth and prosperity, to make the lavish and fancy Five Noble Plants pattern. The background of thin, see-through saenggosa reveals the pattern all the more delicately. This fabric was produced with support of the Hanbok Advancement Center in 2014.
