2017 아름지기 기획전 《해를 가리다》는 비를 막고 그늘을 만드는 가장 원초적인 건축 행위에서 출발해, 자연과 인간의 관계 속에서 형성된 공간 감각과 전통적 미감을 탐구하는 전시다. 온지음 집공방은 잊혀져 가는 전통적 해가림 구조물의 형태와 쓰임을 새롭게 조명한다. 왕의 야외 의식이나 거둥 시 잠시 머물던 어막차를 비롯해 이를 현대적으로 재해석한 텐트, 대규모 의례 공간을 덮던 차일, 그리고 개인의 휴식과 이동을 위한 해가리개 등 다양한 해가림 장치를 선보인다. 이러한 구조물들은 자연과 건축, 외부와 내부의 경계를 조율하며, 사람의 움직임과 감각을 중심으로 공간을 새롭게 경험하도록 이끈다.
Arumjigi’s 2017 exhibition "Shade from the Sun" begins with the most fundamental architectural acts—keeping out the rain and creating shade—to explore the sense of space and traditional aesthetics shaped by the relationship between people and nature. Onjium Housing Studio casts new light on the forms and uses of traditional shading structures that are gradually being forgotten. The studio presents a range of shelters, including the eomakcha, a temporary shelter where the king would rest during outdoor ceremonies or royal outings; a tent that reinterprets this structure for contemporary use; the chail, a canopy used to cover large ceremonial spaces; and sunshades for personal rest and travel. These structures mediate the boundaries between nature and architecture, outside and inside, inviting visitors to experience space anew through movement and the senses.
