(Victoria and Albert Museum, V&A)에서 개최된 특별전 《Hallyu!

"Hallyu! The Korean Wave", a special exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London, explores the global influence and creative currents of Korea’s traditional and contemporary cultures. Through approximately 250 works and objects spanning film, music, fashion, design, and fine art, the exhibition offers a multifaceted view of the cultural identity and artistic innovation that Korean society has developed through periods of historical change. Conceived and curated by the V&A itself, rather than presented within a dedicated Korean gallery, the exhibition frames Hallyu as a cultural narrative encompassing tradition and modernity, extending beyond its recognition as a popular culture phenomenon.Onjium Clothing Studio participates in the traditional hanbok section with King Yeongjo’s Dopo and Women’s Attire from Portrait of a Beauty, works that exemplify the refined aesthetics of eighteenth-century Joseon dress. Drawing on written records and firsthand examination of historical garments, the studio has closely studied the structure, proportions, materials, and colours of hanbok to recreate traditional forms within contemporary exhibition contexts. The works presented here invite visitors to experience the formal order and cultural meaning of Joseon dress through its physical presence in the gallery. This participation offers a significant opportunity for traditional Korean dress to be considered alongside contemporary cultural currents on the world stage.
