고구려 동암리 고분벽화에 보이는 격자무늬 계(罽)직물을 재현하였다. 벽화 속 인물은 청색과 주홍색, 검은색과 흰색이 강렬하게 대비를 이루는 현대적 감성의 격자무늬 바지저고리를 착용하고 있는데, 이 무늬를 모사(毛紗)를 사용하여 수직기로 제직하였다.
This fabric is a reproduction of plaid woven silk fabric depicted in the ancient tomb murals in Dongam-ri dating to the Goguryeo Kingdom. The figures on the murals are wearing plaid baji and jeogori (pants and top) in contrasting blue and vermilion, and black and white, and they look so modern. This pattern was woven with silk yarn on looms.
