디자인실은 한국연구재단과의 연구사업 일환으로 옷공방이 개발한 기능성 '라 라이크(ra-like)' 원단을 활용하여 백팩·크로스백·숄더백·파우치 총 4종의 가방을 제작하였다. 라 라이크 원단은 전통 직조법의 현대화를 통해 개발한 기능성 한복지로, 성글면서도 정제되고 단아한 미감이 특징이다. 디자인 과정에서는 원단의 고유한 특성을 살리는 것을 기본 방향으로 삼아, 다른 원단과의 믹스매치, 버려지는 원단을 최소화한 공정, 면을 분할하고 이어 만드는 구성 방식을 적용하여 실용성과 지속 가능성을 함께 구현하였다. 원단의 유연한 특성을 활용하여 짐의 무게와 형태에 따라 자연스럽게 생성되는 곡면을 감싸 입체감을 더하는 디테일도 적용하였다.
The Design Dept. created four types of bags—a backpack, crossbody bag, shoulder bag and pouch—using the functional ra-like fabric developed by the Clothing Studio as part of a research project supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea. Developed by adapting traditional weaving techniques for contemporary production, this functional hanbok fabric combines an open weave with a refined, understated elegance.The designs emphasize the fabric’s inherent qualities through combinations with other textiles, processes that minimize fabric waste, and construction using joined panels, bringing practicality and sustainability together. Details that wrap around the curves naturally formed by the weight and shape of the contents make use of the fabric’s flexibility, adding depth and volume to each bag.
