Designed by the Design Dept., the Kiwa Furniture series takes its form from the curves of traditional concave and convex roof tiles. Drawing on the structural principles of the main beams that support a hanok roof and the joinery of timber architecture, the designs achieve stability with a minimal number of components.Curved surfaces are formed in molded plywood and finished with oak veneer, translating the contours of roof tiles into furniture. Available in low and high versions, the series accommodates different ways of sitting and viewing the surrounding space. The accompanying Snow Cushion evokes snow gently settled upon a hanok roof.
